Clues 1 - 9: Walk the Witch's Way
In the first half of your adventure, you'll discover Greyfriar's Kirkyard, Grassmarket and wander Castle Hill. Many people walk to Edinburgh Castle without knowing this was the final route for those who were executed for different crimes but a lot due to the witch trials. Scotland's very own King James VI wrote a book titled Daemonologie (his understanding of witchcraft) and listed punishments for those caught practicing.
Take a Break!
Settle down for a drink in The Deacon Brodie - while you do, take a look at the sign where you will see two figures. These images tell the story of Deacon Brodie, a man who lived a colourful, double life…
Clues 10-16: The Spookiest City in the World?
In the second part of your adventure, you'll discover Hunters Square, St Giles Cathedral and Advocates Close. Not far from here, lurking beneath the surface, you'll find The Real Mary King’s Close, a maze of underground pathways full of characters waiting to share spooky secrets of the city’s alarming past (if you dare)...
