Day 1

12pm

Start your Mystery Guides adventure

Your mystery begins…Friary Gardens

It is recommended that you start this adventure no later than 2pm. In the winter, clues 7-10 (Bute Park) are only accessible until 3:30pm.

Clues 1 - 10: Why did the British Navy love Welsh coal?

In the first half of your adventure, you'll discover Welsh Government buildings, the University district and Bute Park.

Along the journey you'll encounter a statue dedicated to mining. In order to fuel their maritime revolution, the British Navy needed huge supplies of iron and coal - something the Welsh hills had in abundance. Welsh coal was perfectly suited to the British Navy as it didn't produce much smoke, meaning warships could scour the globe largely undetected.

Take a Break!

Not far from Clue 10 you'll find the Castle Arcade which is home to an array of unique shops and cafes.

Clues 11-16: Who is the racecar driving Marquess?

In the second part of your adventure, you'll discover The Hayes and Cardiff Castle - once home to the Bute family. More recently, the 7th Marquess of Bute broke tradition and took up a career in racecar driving breaking into the Formula 1 Lotus team where his teammate was none other than racing legend Aryton Senna.

Stay the Night

Why not rest your head in a historic city centre hotel oozing with luxury. In it's former life, The Parkgate Hotel was home to Cardiff's Post Office headquarters and also the County Court.

Day 2

Home of the Dragons

If sport, music or entertainment is your thing, a trip to Cardiff would not be complete without visiting the Principality Stadium for a guided tour. Home of Welsh Rugby, football and a stop on many musicians worldwide tours, the building is full of stories waiting to be told.

Tee Off in the Treetops!

Take a walk on the wild side at Treetop Adventure Golf, an inside 18 hole mini golf course full of whacky challenges. There is a bonus 19th hole to challenge yourself to win a prize… After all the adventure settle down to delectable food and drinks.
