Day 1

12pm

Start your Mystery Guides adventure

Your mystery begins…Crystal Palace Pub

An old lodging house where Nelson is believed to have stayed. (Please note the pub opens at 11am)

Clues 1 - 8: Will you taste the ancient water?

In the first half of your adventure, you'll discover the Pulteney Bridge, Theatre Royal and Roman Baths - where you can taste water directly from the spa fountain. Roman people used the baths as their leisure centre, here they'd get spa treatments, have a snack, meet with friends and play ball games!

Take a Break!

Sit down for a well-earned rest at The Raven pub. Formely known as the ‘Hatchett’s Wine Lodge' after former landlord murdered his wife with a hatchet (hence the gruesome name!).

Clues 9-16: How did a yellow door anger parliament?

In the second part of your adventure, you'll discover Queen Square, The Circus and Royal Crescent. These famous houses may just be one of the most photographed places in the world (be sure to snap a selfie here and be the envy of your friends!). But, one resident ended up causing mischief when she painted the front door of her Grade I listed property bright yellow. The act was supposedly so outrageous that it was discussed in the House of Commons!

What was the fate of the yellow door?

You'll have to see for yourself…

Day 2

Fancy a Reading Spa?

Enjoy a bookish natter over tea and cake at Mr B's Emporium. Their Reading Spas allow you to chat to a ‘bibliotherapist’ about your reading habits, they will then pick out a huuuuge pile of books for you to look through and help you decide what to take home. The only trouble is narrowing down the selection!

“A little too much chocolate, is just about right!”

Just next door to the Cathedral and Roman Baths, you will find Mrs Potts Chocolate House, a delicious cafe serving… you guessed it… delicious chocolate treats. They are a big deal on Instagram with some incredible hot chocolates, sharing platters, cookie sandwiches and more!
